Membership

One basic rule must be absolute honesty. "There is no malice intended by telling the truth."  Ray Lane

The WEBPS is an exclusive, members only group of breeders dedicated to the preservation of the traditional farmer's White English Bulldog. We do not breed for nor do we advocate the practice of using the WEB as a hunting dog, a modern sport that is contrary to it's longstanding and original function as a protector of cattle, farm and family.

Membership to the W.E.B.P.S.  is by application and on some occasions, by invitation. Applications can only be received by contacting us directly.  Our application process is in-depth and stringent, as we adhere to a very strict, unforgiving standard for the W.E.B.  Since we are a group with the sole purpose of preserving this incredible breed, we must adhere to such strict standards.

There is a one time application fee of $100.00 and a yearly membership fee of $25.00.  All fees go directly towards the maintenance of the WEBPS web-page, (including monthly IP charges), secretarial duties, mail, printing charges, and the application process itself.

Application / Termination Process

Our application process is very in-depth and stringent. Once an application has been received, the process begins. This includes several telephone interviews over a period of weeks and the actual viewing of the applicant's dogs and the parents of their dogs. Based mainly on the interviews and dogs themselves, we will determine if applicants may be granted membership. Applicants must prove themselves by their actions, not their words. New members however, are probationary members until they have produced a minimum of three consistent litters that meet the WEBPS standard. After such time, probationary members may become full members. New applicants names will be listed on the web site as a new applicant. Their status as applicants, probationary members, or full members will remain on the site indefinitely, or until termination or if membership is not renewed. Member's standings with the W.E.B.P.S. will also be listed on the site. Members under investigation or in poor standing will be flagged until the completion of the investigation, with findings posted, or until termination, at which point the member's name will be removed.

Termination of membership is at the sole discretion of the charter members of the WEBPS. Members may report other members believed to be violating the statutes and or objectives of the WEBPS to the charter members. A thorough investigation will be implemented by the charter members in a joint effort to determine the validity of the report. Members will be informed immediately if they have been reported and are being investigated. If a report is founded, membership can and will be terminated. Once a member has been terminated, they will be banned from membership to the WEBPS for life. All member dues and fees are non-refundable.

How We Operate

As the preservation efforts are the efforts of all of our members, they all work jointly, as a team within a a tight network. When litters are born to one breeder in this network, all members receive at least one pup from the litter, if they chose to, the remaining pups are sold to those who are interested in the preservation of the WEB as well. All proceeds from the remaining pups do not go to any one breeder, but rather back into the WEBPS itself. These proceeds go towards office supplies, site management, endless research materials, etc. The WEBPS is completely not for profit and is committed to the preservation of the WEB. It is a costly endeavor for our members as well as the WEBPS, which at this time is the sole financial responsibility of our charter members.

Being a part of the WEBPS is a serious commitment that requires complete cooperation from it's members. As well, it requires active participation in breeding the WEB.  We welcome any interest from those familiar with the WEB; their input, experiences, photos, etc.

"To put it concisely: breeders who cover up hereditary defects occurring in litters are acting as gravediggers to a breed. Breed clubs that continue to disregard hereditary deficiencies, such as lack of maternal instinct in the brood-bitch or mating instinct in the stud dog, should be excluded from the privileges of the responsible kennel club."

"Every geneticist stresses the fact that hereditary defects can be eradicated by well-planned breeding. One basic rule must be absolute honesty."  Dr Dieter Fleig
